AMUSEMENT PARKS ON LAKE GARDA: THE COMPLETE GUIDE

Did you know? Lake Garda is home to the highest concentration of amusement parks in Italy. Within just a few kilometres, you can go from Europe's steepest roller coasters to lions and giraffes spotted through a car window, from breathtaking water slides to adventure trails through the trees, all the way to Hollywood film sets that look like they've stepped straight out of a movie. Whether you're looking for things to do on Lake Garda with your family or planning your next adrenaline-filled adventure, in this guide we tell you all about them.

Gardaland

Gardaland is Italy's leading amusement park, located in Castelnuovo del Garda, in the province of Verona, with over 40 attractions for adults and children. Thrill-seekers will love roller coasters like Raptor and Oblivion, unique in their kind; families can enjoy Colorado Boat and the 4D cinema; for the little ones there are themed areas such as Fantasy Kingdom and Peppa Pig Land. Shows vary by type and age group: from acrobatic and musical performances designed for the whole family, to parades with the park's characters that bring the avenues to life throughout the day. The food areas are extensive and offer a wide variety of national and international dishes. In July and August, we recommend arriving at opening time or choosing weekdays to avoid queues at the main attractions.

  • Open from March to November;
  • Recommended visit: full day;
  • Tickets from approximately €50;

Legoland Water Park

Legoland Water Park is an area within Gardaland entirely dedicated to LEGO-themed water attractions. The LEGO River Adventure is a lazy river where you can customise your own rubber dinghy with giant floating bricks, alongside Miniland, where over 5 million pieces recreate Italy's most iconic landmarks. The offer is completed by the Pirate Bay pool, Jungle Adventures and Beach Party with colourful slides and surprise tipping buckets. Entry requires a Gardaland ticket plus a supplement, purchasable online or on-site. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Open from late May to mid-September;
  • Recommended visit: half a day;
  • Supplement from approximately €14.

Sea Life Aquarium

Just a few steps from the entrance to Gardaland, you'll find Sea Life Aquarium: Italy's first fully themed aquarium. The journey begins in the freshwater of Lake Garda and takes you all the way to the deepest seas and oceans, where you can encounter over 5,000 specimens from 100 different species, including: clownfish, sharks, Napoleon fish, piranhas, seahorses and many more. The most spectacular moment is the transparent ocean tunnel where sharks, rays and tropical fish swim literally above your head. For children there are child-height observation points, educational quizzes along the route and an outdoor play area. The visit lasts approximately 90 minutes and is open to everyone: tickets can be purchased for the aquarium only or as a combo with Gardaland Park.

  • Open all year round;
  • Recommended visit: 90 minutes;
  • Tickets from approximately €20;
  • How to get there.

Movieland Park

Movieland Park, part of the Canevaworld Resort in Lazise on Lake Garda, is the only amusement park in northern Italy entirely dedicated to cinema. It is smaller than Gardaland but offers equally immersive experiences, with some attractions driven by you yourself, such as Pangea, and others led by professional stuntmen, such as Magma 2.1. There are numerous shows, with truly impressive live special effects and acrobatics. Among the must-see attractions are Disaster, a bus tour through spectacular Hollywood-style scenery, and K6 - The Royal Intelligence Agency, an immersive spy movie-style experience. Its more compact size makes it easy to enjoy in a single day, but the intensity of the experiences makes it unforgettable nonetheless.

  • Open from April to November;
  • Recommended visit: full day;
  • Tickets from approximately €30;
  • How to get there.

Caneva Aquapark

Caneva Aquapark is the water park adjacent to Movieland, with over 15 attractions across adventure, action and family categories. Those seeking thrills will find breathtaking slides like the Stukas BOOM, a 32-metre free fall, or the total darkness of Black Hole 2. Families can choose between group rides like the six-lane Typhoon and the Crazy River with inflatable rings, or bring the little ones to Windy Lagoon, the children's area with child-sized slides and water games. For those who want to relax, there are wave pools, whirlpool areas and over 2,000 free sun loungers. Entry is single or combined with Movieland, even on separate days.

  • Open from May to September;
  • Recommended visit: full day;
  • Tickets from approximately €35;

Rimbalzello Adventure

Rimbalzello Adventure is one of the main adventure parks on Lake Garda, nestled in the greenery of Salò. With vines, Tibetan bridges, zip-lines and suspended nets, it offers 5 aerial courses of increasing difficulty, truly suitable for everyone. The youngest visitors can try the Yellow Course just 1 metre above the ground, accompanied by their parents. Those wanting more of a challenge will find the Blue and Green Courses, both accessible from age 7. For the bravest, there is the Red Course, which rises up to 15 metres with a panoramic view over the lake and 3 final zip-lines. The park is open from March to October, with dedicated family rates and the option to book for groups.

  • Open from March to October;
  • Recommended visit: half a day;

Parco Natura Viva

Parco Natura Viva is located in Bussolengo, in the province of Verona, just a few kilometres from Lake Garda. With 42 hectares of woodland and over 1,500 animals from 250 species, it is the biopark with the largest zoological collection in Italy. The visit is divided into two routes, accessible with a single ticket: the Africa Safari, to be taken in your own car along approximately 7 km among lions, giraffes, zebras and cheetahs, and the Faunal Park, a walking route through the five continents where you can encounter Siberian tigers, chimpanzees, lemurs and much more. Not to be missed: the Jurassic Adventure with life-size dinosaurs and the House of Dragon, a tropical greenhouse with a Komodo dragon.

  • Open from March to November;
  • Recommended visit: 4–5 hours;
  • Tickets from approximately €20;

Which one to choose?

With so much on offer, it's not always easy to decide. If it's your first visit, Gardaland is the essential starting point. Those travelling with young children will find Legoland Water Park and Sea Life Aquarium the most suitable choices, while Parco Natura Viva and Caneva Aquapark cater to the whole family regardless of age. For half a day surrounded by greenery, Rimbalzello is perfect. And if the weather doesn't cooperate, both Sea Life and Movieland are perfectly enjoyable even in the rain.
